How do you identify yourself?
Are you black, African, Caribbean...etc. Do you refer to your identity by nationality, e.g. British, etc; by the reactionary political term employed in the 1960s, 'BLACK' or by the race-nationality model, African-Caribbean. Some say this is the most accurate as it describes our identity and fully articulates our historical and geo-political legacy.
I argue though that the term African heritage people, best describes us, it is the legitimate label as it relates to the indigenous people of the African continent and their descendants in the Diaspora.
The 'Caribbean heritage' I argue does not reflect where we have come from but only a legacy of our enslavement, i.e. the consequence of and the influence of our integration with other races.....
We should I argue denounce racist words like 'tribe', 'sub-saharan Africa' or 'black Africa'....
